Our R&D Department suggests that for better performance of a parachute, a) Care must be taken not to get the shrouds entangled, b) the canopy of a parachute should be crumpled and then unfolded by hands to let air in before releasing. This preparatory action resembles somewhat the opening-up of a tightly folded umbrella.
